We are unable to ship outside of Canada for Spring 2010 only, due to personal difficulties - we intend to return to shipping internationally for Fall 2010.
Please note that US & International customers are subject to an extra $15.00 charge in shipping for a phyto certificate which indicates the bulbs are pest free. This charge is mandatory and INCLUDED in the shipping price when the correct one is chosen on the order form online. This certificate is required by both governments in order to ship across the border.
Normally we have phyto inspections done on a weekly basis, but due to the high cost of fuel these days we are forced to consolidate the inspections. During the busy Fall season, all USA orders will ship the first shipping week in September or the first week of October. If your order contains Orienpets, it will be the October shipping week it will go out. In Spring, orders will be shipped the second and last week of April, depending on when your order is received. All orders received before April 7 will ship the second week, orders received after this date will ship the last week.
We do not require a minimum order, but it is to your benefit to order in quantity as the shipping is the same regardless of quantity, for smaller orders. Perhaps you can get together with a friend or family member and order together to save on shipping costs.
Shipping to the USA is via Air Mail, Expedited Post USA or Xpresspost USA through the Canadian Postal Service. Shipping minimum rates are $15.00 plus mandatory phyto (total minimum $30.00) for USA Expedited or Airmail. Expedited service usually delivers to any location in the US within 12 days, all orders shipped this method have tracking numbers which are emailed to you along with an expected delivery date the day your order goes out.
Air Mail can take a couple days longer and does not come with any tracking number, only very small orders containing under 5 bulbs can be sent this method. Insurance value to $100.00 is included with all orders shipped regardless of their method.
XpressPost USA is also available at additional cost to the above rate, exact charges are shown once you are in the checkout process online. XpressPost delivers to any location in the US, usually within 4-7 days. Using this method seems to prevent customs delays. This method also comes with tracking numbers and is automatically insured to a value of $100.00. Your tracking number is emailed to you the day the order ships out, along with the expected delivery time.
Sometimes our shipping calculations are completely off and the charges may seem very high - in cases like this, we refund any difference over $3.00 at shipping time. Our apologies, but it is often difficult to calculate shipping charges due to the size and weight of the bulbs, which vary greatly. We do not make a profit from shipping, in fact we have no handling charge nor do we charge extra for packaging such as boxes or vermiculite. Vermiculite is what the bulbs are packed in, although it is dusty it is much easier for officials to see the quality and state of the bulbs and we feel this helps get them through customs and inspections a little bit quicker. You can dump the vermiculite onto the ground after planting and mix it into your topsoil, so it serves a double purpose.
