amabile luteum hardy species lily for Canadians

The yellow form of l. amabile, golden yellow with vivid deep red spotting. Forms numerous underground stem bulblets but very few stem roots, so plant deep at about 12-15 cm. Stems grow 60 cm tall, blooming mid July. Blooms do not fade in summer heat. Prefers gravelly or gritty soil and very little water. Cultivated since at least 1939, originated in Korea.
