Lilium Superbum is a species of true lily, native to the eastern and central regions of North America. Common names include, Turk's cap lily, turban lily, swamp lily or American tiger lily.
Grows up to 1.83 M (6 feet) with whorled leaves and up to a dozen downfacing flowers which are orange tipped with yellow centers and large vivid smattering of brown spots. It prefers full or partial sun, rich loamy soil, and moist conditions. An established plant, however, can withstand some drought. Growing this plant from seeds is slow and difficult, but relatively easy from bulbs.
