Hummer Pink Lily
Hummer Pink Lily

This one is a bit of a chameleon with the colour very difficult to capture on camera - pink or red...I chose to list it in the red category but it could just as well be considered a vivid deep pink. 1.4 M tall it grows, with a crowd of flowers at the top the hummingbirds can't leave alone, and they don't care if it is pink or red do they? Over 20 flowers typically start to bloom mid July; the most ever counted is 27. The inflorescence starts in an umbel formation at the base then branches and spaces itself out somewhat. Very fine deeper coloured spots aren't all that noticeable until the petals fade (and they definitely fade to pink rather than red) with strong papillae in the throat standing out in contrast.
